Tenuous Veil by Kerowyn Rose
It's okay to negotiate with the dead.
They are ever present.
Read "Tales of the Alhambra"
out loud to them with a flash light
as you hide under your bed.
They need entertainment, for
you know ghosts don't haunt houses,
places or things... they haunt us.
They dip smokey fingers into our minds;
to stir up memories, to re-live the past,
to taste the present. They long for what
we are unable. They long for what they
are unable. In all things their apparitions
hide in sussurations; weaving superstitions
as they sit on your bed at night waiting to slip
through the tenuous veil that separates only
the conscious and subconscious between you.
