Ghosts in the audience

by Lisa-Dawn Sparling

I know you were there,
although I couldn't see you.....
I wore your memories around my neck in a silver locket.
I had my diploma in my hand and looked into the audience..
I couldn't see you,
but I saw these empty places
and I could picture you sitting there,
a proud face, tears in your eyes...
This all started with you dad,
because you told me to chase my dream
because you told me that life was to short
because you told me the world needed me.
So here I am... I did it dad.
I picture Kelly beside you,
sitting with his hands held up clapping.
I knew you were both there,
I could feel your prescence,
How loved am I to have my own...
ghosts in the audience.
