Twilight Gleams Softly

by Joe Cramer

What now is left
When the day is done?
The hot sun
Has won over the night,
Everything is right.
Where has the time gone?
Why is everything so wrong?
You came, conquered
Then vanished once again,
As the sun moves away.
Twilight leaves the hot day
Lonely in this way
Until dawning of new day.
What words can be said,
What now is left?
Twilight gleams softly
At end of long day.
