From California by Leonard M HawkesFrom a clutter of coastal hills
Through the arid expanse of the Mojave
The land rose upward,
And not far beyond the pink cliffs of the Virgin,
I saw fresh snow on the Tushars
And knew I was home.
The ease of the ocean behind me,
I must brace myself to live the life
Of the stony heart of the continent:
Ungroomed, honest, and raw. 06/14/2009 Author's Note: Traveling from Cherry Valley to Utah, June 13th & 14th 2009.
