Good Weather to Walk In

by Ken Harnisch

The coffee cup is empty again
And I stare out at the rain
Remembering how
It evoked both brooding
And poetry in equal measure
Back in the day.

There is a comforting blanket of mist
In the morning skies. It is
Good weather to walk in and feel the soft
Needles of rain upon your face
Without the apprehension
You will get drowned

I think I scare passers-by at times
Lost in thought I can be so intense
And sometimes the mutterings
Of a frantic mind
Find their way to lips
Then out into the drizzly
Morning as loud snarls
Or short, sardonic laughs
That scare all the little girls.

In reply to those who worry
(And some do), I merely say
I am having a conversation
With my best friend
And this time he is
Animated enough
At the subject matter
To give me answers

Even those I may not care to hear.

Author's Note: No, in answer to a comment I'm sure to get, I do not have Tourette's.

I would never suggest such a thing! Though tourettes could make an interesting topic... Just dropped by to say I like your sort of weather - fine drizzle is great for walking.

This one brings a *soft smile* and fond memories... of distant days... as well as "Well Done" Nice to wake and find this!
