general lies by Charlie Morganlies placate the days' mourning;
little notions of untruths,
spread like Mama Moore's apron
and just as dirty from over-use.
most are somewhat and then some;
i find generalities to comfort me, and
snuggle in their icy roads knowing
they only melt in summer's days.
small lies tell large truths;
a wave of nostalgia applies
it's salve of comfort, easing aches,
and penetrates to my soul of want.
still i stand here watching years wane.
my mind cries out for a youth of lies;
and it's a one lap race, as i count
all the extra lies that have me tired.
i applaud and envy the other runners.

| Posted by Gabriel Ricard on 06/02/09 at 07:03 PM A lof of hard-won wisdom to be found in this. Smart, quick lines and your usual great attention to form and style. Very nice. |
| Posted by Alison McKenzie on 06/02/09 at 07:35 PM both honesty and the alternatives have their prices, don't they? And is a truth told late redeeming in nature? Good stuff here, Charles! |
