socratic method

by Jared Fladeland

to be important
like a hatchet covering the gape
of flesh and blood,
what does it matter?

the burn,
bubbling up of consumable materials,
the human body,
it just seems all too easy to destroy.

so why should we care?

because when we were children,
the most precious thing in the universe
was seeing just how long
we could make the giant soap bubble last.

And then we all drink the hemlock.

...this really gives a person a moment of contemplation...I agree, it's stunning.
