Sell-Out by Olivia Weinkeini suppose i could write about
thunderstorms.
use the most obvious as metaphor
for how i really feel
but how i really feel
cannot be summed up in streaks
of lightning or the crashing of
thunder.
even the darkest clouds cannot
best describe my darkest thoughts
or how i really felt every time you looked
at me that way.
& the rain, the rain,
don't even get me started on the rain.
just know,
that we had thunderstorms today,
they made me think of you & what used to be
us.
and that's all
and that's enough. 05/17/2009 Posted on 05/18/2009 Copyright © 2025 Olivia Weinkein

Posted by Kris Mara on 05/18/09 at 04:20 PM I love the honesty in this -- it's stark and real -- and truly needs no metaphor -- this is the kind of thing that subtly slices right into my heart when I read it.
(and in the back of my mind I'm laughing for the partial metaphor of the storm I used the other day -- but the darn thing woke me up and I was fairly mad at the sky that morning -- so I guess it was literal as well...) |
