He exhaled,
Sending a surge of energy
Through every cell of my body
The likes of which
Nearly knocked me over,
This vessel simply too small
To contain the enormity
Of that vibration.

And that was energy
That wasn’t even being sent
To me.

This 6 ft 6 man
Takes it in stride,
Shrugs his huge shoulders because
He’s been working with it
His entire life.

While I delicately pick up my jaw
From the earth
Where it’s landed with a thud.

Then,
I delightfully dip again
Into the ebb and flow
Of this new ocean.

He asks me
If I've picked up the flowers
He left at our bridge today.
Everyday.

Now, I’m wise enough to remember
That it’s never all roses,
And even roses, as experiences,
Have their thorns.

But while these blossoms thrive,
I intend to enjoy every breath on the in,
And dispel all the negative on the out.

Because,
All I have is today
And all I have to do, today,
Is breathe.
