We Don't Have a Backyard, But We Make Do by Megan GuimbellotLast night was a different sort of night
I could see every star in the sky as they reached down to brush the horizon
Everything was moonlight and shadows
including your skin
we laid in the grass
Your hands roaming, lazily
as your heart beat against my ear.
I wanted to pull down every star for you
one-by-one
and give them all as gifts, wrapped
and tied with a bow
sealed with a kiss
But since I can't I'll give you this poem to let you know
That you outshine the night sky
and not only just right now.
