The Anatomy Of Release

by Tom Goss

I. Under The Bough Of The Weeping Willow

Learn to live a life
more in tune with the ripeness
of the flower's grin.

(And then let go.)

II. On The Cliffs That Overlook The Sea

Learn to sing without guilt like the winged animals:
inhale the vapor of their fluctuating body-movements
and smile inside.

(And then let go.)

III. Underneath The Jungle's Rioting Light

Learn to thread your body like a knife
through the rampaging foliage that snake-swallows
the long-forgotten temple gates;
learn to whisper in an ancient tongue
as it silently sleeps on a bed of etched stone:
not to resurrect an extinct mythology,
but simply to remember,
to connect.

(And then let go.)
