Remember by Joan SerratelliI want to remember
exactly why
we got together
but I cannot
I want to remembber
if we were ever
really happy
but I cannot
Memories are funny
they play tricks
on one's mind
they hide
never to be found
I want to remember
what brought
us together
but I cannot
The good times
are now faded
and I cannot
remember
what was
Life has worn us down
and spit on what
we had
we were once happy
but that was long past
I want to remember
the joy, the laughter
and even
the pain
I'll go to my grave
believing
that we were simply
never

Posted by Charlie Morgan on 04/29/09 at 02:20 PM ...joan, i hear about 'soul-mate' from today's youth...and it's the second or third marriage errrah, BUT THIS ONE, THIS ONE IS MY SOUL MATE...pardon me, but my ass wants to dip snuff, how in Heaven's name can we/each have several soul mates...sheeeeesh!, been happily married for 40 years and i can't answer those questions you pose...good exploratory write.
Posted by Gregory O'Neill on 04/29/09 at 06:32 PM You know what's said about good intentions, and a certain road they pave. As soon as their novelty wears of...questions like you have here start to pop un....could be weeks or years....but they come if the former is the premise. I wish you peace. Thanks.
Posted by Kris Mara on 05/01/09 at 07:12 PM very sad...sometimes with relationships, you get to that point...where you just can't remember why -- and maybe there was a reason, but it's so far away, you just can't remember. Very well said (got me contemplating past relationships that ended up here)
