I Am A Rag Doll

not discarded
just misplaced
and forgotten
perhaps i was missed
cried over, longed for
but easily replaced
and now forgotten
i am smudged and worn
not from misuse
but being loved
by a careless heart
thoughtless handling
has left me fragile
susceptible to
the slightest of
embraces
my seams are
unraveling
and i lose pieces
of myself
wherever i go
will you
gather me up
fill my empty spaces
put me back together
will you clean
my stains and
smudges and
love me with
protective concern
if not
then please
just leave me
as you found me
for i'd rather
keep what dignity
i still maintain
than suffer more
at the hands
