More Like You

by Joan Serratelli

I wish
I could be
more like you
content to be
who I am

To be able
to sit
with your head
held high
not looking
at the ground

I wish
I could be
more like you
a person
comfortable
with yourself

To be able
to be
who I am
without ever
questioning
why

I wish
I could be
more like you
someone who means
so much to me
a person
able to live

I wish
I could be
more like you
but I'm not
I'm just me

A person
just wondering
why

...joan, a well posed question, to the ethery, eh?...except for your health issues, there is someone who says this about you!!! so there!...a well-written expose on the frailites of man/woman...personal statements but there are social implications too... a good pome[sic].

Joan "I wish I could be more like you". Sometimes I hide my feelings and just let them build up until I explode. Keep being yourself. I like you that way.

People can be overrated...here's a disclamer we all could use: "it's too bad I'm not as wonderful a person as people say I am, because the world could use a few people like that." Peace.

I just wish I could be more like me. Or at least the me I'd like to be more often. There are those with out the question. They already "know" the big answer. I say more power to them and then... Good thoughtful write and we don't always have to be right. We just keep asking the question why.

Joan, there is such candid poeticness...a purity in your speak that is of rare beauty. You are wonderful just the way you are...lovelight*peace...m.a

I love your title to this Joan, it feels kind and sincere and it follows through. Greg hits the nail on the head though as people can be overrated yet in real time this may be not so...

you can be what you wish to be, Joan. Step one is believing you can make it happen. Good luck

You have gifts unique to only you, gentle one.
