good guys/bad guys

by Charlie Morgan

the lightning strikes
and following thunder
scares my little man.

just a day being born
and he worries a lot.
another day, different.

my little man; lil' Man,
i call him, he's afraid
of noise until it's theory.

he's the one who wants to see
the man mowing, but trembles
when the mowerMan gets close.

he's strong: he gets the bad guy
as he lowers his stick-gun,
aims at the bad-guy bush

and 'pow, pow, pow, pow!'
all the bad guys are gone.
my grin is a piano keyboard.

he lets me and his Mama
be the good guys, unless
he's low on playmates, then...
