At that moment

by John D Uzzell

If I were home when the time came
I don’t know what I would do
To see you seeing me taking the final ride
To know what I would lose

To see the fear glare from your eyes
My heart would be breaking in two
Knowing I wouldn’t be there to say it’s ok
Hearing you ask, what now do I do?

It will come quietly there will be no pain
Each one of us is born only to die
Understand one simple thing
There is no need to cry

Time has done this, as it will one day for us all
We meet it at the end of our time
Life will bring us here as planned before we know
Smile, continue, for me it’s just the end of the line

Life is funny like that
But I will be going to a much better place
Watching you live, looking through the clouds
Helping to keep a smile on your face
