The Red Tie Foundation by Jared OrlandoIt is just too early
And you can find me on display
Behind this cold, dark podium.
The day has come, and I’m unprepared
But my words have already been chosen carefully and wisely
Where I’ll just play my role, calculated and pitch-perfect.
As far as my blinded eyes can see, I’m separated by packs of ants
On this vast hill
Embracing things two-three-four times their size
Flaunting and worshipping a projected face on screens
Cackling and jostling unpredicted and confident
A cult of insects proud and practicing
Initiating in their new leader, an organizer of creature
To straighten once again the lines that were once misdirected,
Misguided and confused.
The chants grow louder and it hits me
As it’s time to begin, I stumble-
I reconsider.
My palms are draining and there’s no turning back
This was an accident
Just a simple,
And costly mistake.
