Away on a Ship

by Angela Cotterman

Under the cerulean blue, the sand was like baby's skin. I floated in its womb, neither new nor of the sea.

In the night, I could not remember land. From the deck, concentrating into the pitch, I heard a heart.

At sea.

I really like that first line. Whether this is just a stand-alone thing or the introduction to a larger piece of work, I really enjoyed it.
