I Go to Bed with You on My Mind

by David Garner

I go to bed with you on my mind.
All the photos you showed me from Norway and Finland.
The water so green in Bergen.
And the waterfalls.
Pictures perfect.
The big girl from Oslo and the royalty at brunch.
I wish I had been there with you.
You look beautiful in all the photos.
Every aspect of you captured by the lens.
I have to sigh extra heavy when I go to sleep.
Me here and you so far away.
Epic pictures inside my head.
But I guess I sort you out inside my dreams.
I wake up of course with you on my mind.
But I realize he took those photos of you.
I realize he was present in all those perfect moments.
He captured your beauty.
He understood the light and the angles.
I must create new pictures for myself.
Those are too intrusive.
Those pictures are not my pictures.
I don't want to think about you from his perspective.

No, I don't imagine it would be fun. But THIS is from your perspective - perfect.

So sweet. Keep forming your own pictures in your mind and maybe someday if you're lucky they will become a reality.

Love this one ... I have felt pain something like this too, David. It's good for writing.
