Are You Lonely, My Little Darling?

by David Garner

Are you lonely, my little darling?
Is it cold when you sleep at night?
Do you walk down the street,
your hand in your own hand,
convincing yourself everything is all right?
Are you lonely, my little darling?

Are you lonely, my little darling?
Do you spend all your time at the picture show?
Do you bring with you a sweater,
slumped in a seat in the dark watching movies,
lonesome in the very back row?
Are you lonely, my little darling?

Are you lonely, my little darling?
Do you hear a ring in your ears?
Is it a maddening silence,
which you sometimes ignore,
but most of the time it brings you to tears?
Are you lonely, my little darling?
