I am now by Vikki Owens
I am now. not the kind of girl who will settle for a trifle. i am not the kind of girl who will let you put your arms around me and caress me into servitude. i am not the kind of girl who will spread my legs for your protection or your money. i am not the arrogant kind who will assume that you will love me for my mind.
i am not the broken girl who will grovel for your fixing. the inept girl who will wait around for your compassion. i will not wait for you to pick yourself up out of the gutter to bestow upon me your own kind of tender contradiction.
i am myself, and you will take me or leave me. your wish is not my command. your heart is not my treasure. your face is not my moon. your skin is not my blanket. your love is not my haven. i am my own.
