it slips through the constellations

by Ava Blu

i’m staring into the wrong moments, the stars outside are no longer forming and my back is turned away
you thought it would be easy to resolve, easy to calm me but the indentions on your cheeks claim something different
maybe i’m the water in the river you won’t dive into or maybe i’m the mud along the soles of your boots
still, nothing can appease the unyielding
i was thinking tonight would be the perfect time to have a picnic, stare into the sky and form our own bonds
but nothing seems to bend to your unapproachable demeanor
i’m staring into the great beyond and nothing seems familiar
my back is no longer turned away, but my hands still can’t hold onto you.

There's a great mix of weary hope and hard-won pessimism running through this. It never contradicts itself. It's simply a beautifully painted scene given weight by your honesty. The thoughts running through your mind in this are unfiltered, unedited and that includes a wonderful mix of joy and sadness. This is wonderful piece of writing.

Again, wonderfully honest: as I delve into your library, I am amazed at so many honest beautiful poems in one bunch held! I think most of yours are sure going to land up in my favourites :)

A night that is simultaneously bright and oppressive. Very visual.
