respect

by Maria Francesca

respect (ri spekt) verb
1) to show honor or esteem for; hold in high regard.
2) to show consideration for; avoid intruding upon or interfering with.

"I respect your right to believe differently than I do,"
he says,
"even though my belief is the only acceptable one."

"I respect your right to find your own truth,"
he says,
"and will consider it valid
when it matches mine."

"I respect your right to be different,"
he says,
"even though that difference clearly makes you inferior."

and I wonder whose dictionary
he's using.
