April showers brought Mayflowers
which in turn brought Pilgrims
which in turn brought various forms of death to indigenous peoples who were here first
and enabled their pale-skinned descendants to enslave indigenous peoples from other continents
enabling them to make large amounts of money processing wonderful things like tobacco
which enslaves all sorts of people
to this very day.

We celebrate all of this every April
by paying our taxes.
