Pretty Paralysis by Jared OrlandoI’ve become the drug deal gone wrong
Swooned in by the siren’s song
Teetering on wires in front of
An awaiting and restless throng
I’m more like a poor man’s lament
Just the leaking of an old AC vent
My surroundings change by the minute
But one more drink leaves me content
Staring at the sun has left me colorblind
Remorse has forced me to glance behind
Unsettling pieces of puzzle float about
Looking under branches, afraid of what I’ll find
I’m comparable to that of an atomic bomb
And the tick-tick-ticking keeps the calm
Everyone keeps their relative distances
Writing my own little future inside the psalm
You see me as the sleeping giant
Tied to everything stable, large and defiant
It’s just better to leave me there tied down
For this way you won’t find me so reliant
I’m no other than that reckless musician
His strings are his heartstrings to his composition
But his words are just so come-and-go
And only more lost in between each transition
