Topic: Marginalia by Amanda J CobbI wish I could read
the things you don't say,
the footnotes and highlights,
the things between the lines
and the glaring blank spots
where absolute truth should go.
I want to hold that
worn down, torn up,
much used and much loved
battered copy of you in my hands
and pour over its secrets.
Instead I'm stuck
with the crisp, clean
carbon-copy library edition,
the same one everyone sees,
that no one is ever allowed
to leave a mark on. 04/05/2009 Posted on 04/06/2009 Copyright © 2025 Amanda J Cobb
