the end of things that never should have been by Ava Bluit’s going to take a larger box
to hold these pieces,
these pieces i cannot keep
hidden
and it will be a while before
you take me home,
take me to the new strawberry field
and i won’t allow the seeds to collect in my tummy,
the festering of lies,
the lies that keep me up while you gnaw on
someone else’s gums
i’m not enough for you,
i’m not even enough for myself
and i will start every sentence with the word,
“and”
because everything is a continuation from the day you left,
from the day i began to corrode
and break pieces off
like crumbs from a dying breed
and this is why i don’t know how to
move along.

| Posted by Gabriel Ricard on 04/03/09 at 06:11 PM There's something almost lyrical about this. Arranged a little differently, and this could almost be a song. In any case, I really like the imagery here. It effortlessly moves around hopeful, tired, quiet and unhappy. The whole thing is really nicely done. |
