Dreamspeak

by Anita Mac

I think you share that corner of my mind
that registers between
a dingy motel room and
a field of soft grass and wild flowers.

I think I saw you there last night,
non-toxic tick repellent in hand.

You whispered your eccentric tongue
in my ear as I drifted off
to strange dreamlands
more clever and foreign
than my own,
guided by your
gentleā€¦ and insistent
caresses
to a part of myself
long neglected.

Teach me
the secrets of your language.

Aloha Anita...thank you for stopping by and for your kind comments. I look forward to reading more of your thoughts regarding my work at your convenience, of course. Reading through this one, I loved where the emotions in this one took me. I loved the ethereal quality of the words used... I will be back soon. alisa

I was inclined to suggest that this is something of a departure, but I read 'Today' & 'Santuary' and recognised similar sensual passages of play at work -- an intimacy that caresses the ear. Intriguing opening; by contrast and implicit attributions. Predictably, I'm besotted with your title :) It seems language is not a part of you that's suffered neglect...dreamspoken indeed.

This poem spoke to me beginning with the title. I've had this mornings dream lingering so to find this, today of all days, added to the sense of things wrapping up that have been left undone for a long time in my life. Thank you. Excellent POTD and highest marks.

Gorgeous...vivid and dreamy all at the same time...

Are those secrets taught, or do they spontaneously emerge when latent linguists coalesce?

wonderfully evocative. :)
