Topic: Re-Painting

by Amanda J Cobb

Another conversation,
another revelation,
a new layer of color and texture
added to the depth of our picture,
our still life where the subjects
are always moving,
the spatial relationships shifting
slightly, back and forth,
indecisive and fluid.

Except me.

I am rooted in the same spot
fated to me since that first wash
of amber underpainting.
It's just my eyes that follow you,
as you move across the backdrop,
weighing the choice
between foreground and background,
or leaving the frame altogether.

As always, your colors transfix me.
You are so beautiful and untouchable,
it hurts to look.

I'll wait 'til the paint dries
and see where you stand.
