big girl tears need little girl remedies

by Sandy M. Humphrey

I will wipe your tears tonight my child
and you can cry your river wild
take refuge from all that threatens harm
lay your shoulder rest upon this arm
rock yourself till all is inner calm

curl into a ball like once upon a small
frightened girl so unsure inside
as from the world you and I hide
I will sing a “Jesus Loves me song”
within your heart you can hum along

until strong and safe my fear is gone
child and woman quite the pair
converging when given time and care
my inner child less confused
when by self accepted and love infused

tonight I cried a river wild
comforted my inner child
“Jesus loves me this I know”
no matter how big or small I grow
a Higher love helps guide me through

Author's Note: Learning to meet and care for my inner child has made it easier to calm the big girl when the world is so unkind at times...smh

So very nicely written Sandy. It is such a lovely piece and sometimes we need a little peace regardless of where it comes from.

Excellent work Sandy and very comforting to read, and yes the world can be unkind...

It's said the most potent muse of all is our inner child...so it's good to tend to it. I'm afraid I can only manage an "inner surrealist"...ha! Thanks for this poignant poem.

Wonderful read, Sandy. We all need to embrace our inner child and find comfort in the power of our maker for He loves us unconditinally.

Having had to struggle to understasnd the little boy in me, I am applauding both the little girl and big girl in you for their courage and perserverance, Sandy

It is always hardest to love ourselves unconditionally. Always care for yourself. Great view of this concept!

So full of life, and pain, and hope and joy! Great need met by greater Love! Wonderfully expressed.
