Cubes of desire

by Johnny Crimson

We shake giant hands and smile
from ear to ear in this foam like
universe,
and we nod our heads with the sincerity
of a cub scout campfire.

Giggling softly about the trails
of gummy bears that led us to eachother,
I brush your marshmallow face and
watch the sugar land on your shoes.

After the hug we separate and this
inflated world deflates.
I step back across the flames
and into my own personal purgatory
of bad dreams and too much caffeine.

While the sugar girl keeps
her sticky consistency.
Hell,
she married a fellow marshmallow.
