stars so close you could touch them by Charlie Morganlike Keith, i kissed the stars;
they were so close, i had to.
coyotes yapping, drunk college kids
glorying in their swill and sex;
irking the fireflies, who themselves
were looking for love; blinking: off on.
lizards scurrying from roadrunners;
roadrunners wary, alert for rattlers;
overhead Vultures ready to clean
the carcus of meat, flesh, leaving bones.
and i can hear the symphony; God's music.
the strings bring us the rising sun;
the tympany section rumbles "awake, awake;"
as we don our new day--a baby to care for.
bassoons lull us into the soft saxes;
they themselves kick-start the woodwinds
and finally we're all on the dancefloor;
a whirl of a skirts blaze in unison.
the conductor puts down his baton;
he is needed no more, the day is off
and running; the perpetual movement
made-so by the engine of life.
the teacher said i could sit down.
i wasn't through with what i did
on my Spring Break, so i doodled.
listened to a girl's grandma visit. 03/25/2009 Posted on 03/25/2009 Copyright © 2026 Charlie Morgan
