Writing Love

by Jessica A Steenbock

to learn to write is
no easy thing.
and to keep up with it
even harder.
but it is my moments of yearning
that i find myself able to
put on paper
the sadness it evokes.

it is in the nights
and days spent without you
that i find my heart
willing my brain to write.
wondering why i have such
difficulty conveying this love.

whether it may be a defiance
of sappy romantic prose,
or just the awe that is felt
in your arms that leaves me
speechless,
i don't know.

seems i process pain on a
whole 'nother plane,
and my happiness is so
open and honest that i fear
my words could not
rightly paint a picture
of this love i have.

but it is still in the moments
spent without you
that i find my hands restless
against the page
to let you know just how deep
this river runs
and my heart hurts to know
i will not see you.

"seems i process pain on a whole 'nother plane..." a great line in a very moving poem, well textured and sublime
