A child in conversation

by Laura Doom

They talked about the weather,
she blushing smiles, her cheeks
slapped by the wings of a storm;
his apprehension obscured by clouds
that threatened tears
if the temperature dropped.

In unison, they breathed
a future creation, though
God wasn't there.

Human nature undressed
the mother of miracles.

Humorous look at the weatherpersons! Words may "undress" the weather but never creates it methinks! Fun read.

"she blushing smiles, her cheeks
slapped by the wings of a storm" my favorite two lines

Ha! Of course Morgs and I would have the same favorite lines... This is a rather short one for you. I like it... Something about it reminds me of 'Hills Like White Elephants'.

How delicately you have described the hope of a mutual blush of love. How sacred such [an everlasting hope of the] moment is.

I wonder if this is all my daft interpretation, and if so, then -how fine it is to be able to author a poem that takes each particular reader into a different way of seeing the poem.

Your friend in sanity.

"her cheeks slapped by the wings of a storm."--I like that. You definitely know how to set up your heroines for trouble. Good stuff.

We have a saying in Missouri. "If you don't like the weather stick around it'll be completely different tomorrow."
