I thought I had put up a wall to end this flooding. by Jared OrlandoYou won’t find me too surprised
When I hear this rain pour slamming
Showers exploding outside the window;
It is impossible to not reminiscence
Those drops being once our soundtrack
While you lay quiet on the floor,
Clad in the most minimal of wear
Moving in time with every drip and thunderclap
Lighting striking between our bodies;
I can feel nothing but electricity
Through her veins and between her lips
And she’s soaking the land with shallow gasps
Sweet small breaths of delight and desire;
But I’m displaced from these memories
And instead gazing into the clouds
Waiting for a sun to scorch the longing away
For the flood to subside and leave me dryer. 03/22/2009 Posted on 03/22/2009 Copyright © 2025 Jared Orlando
