To K.T. - 03-18- 09

by Ken Harnisch

Happy birthday, darling
You to whom the poetry
Was first addressed
All those years ago

You whose moments
In my life
Turned themselves to years
None of which I regret
But all that I remember.

You would be happy to know
I never mourned, nor do I
Now. Things happen.
Wheels turn
One way as roads
Take us another

Thanks to you I found out
I had the words inside
That could find their way
To paper
Thanks to her
They keep falling
Even now.

Happy birthday.
