with my back turned by Ava Blu
i often lay in outside silence
having conversations in my head
this is when i write most things
such madness occurs in these moments
and i dare not write most of them
i am not the shouting in the stands
of an overcrowded concert
nor am i the forbidden couple
kissing underneath the bleachers
i’ve always been something
in-between
that hasn’t yet discovered a label
everyone seems to want to be near me,
treating me like the Wizard of Oz
who will only disappoint in the end
the martyr by name,
never by trade
and they tell me how sweet i taste
in my head i can become God
or something close enough
to allow me to write about it,
but i still can’t come up with
10 reasons not to cry.
