WALMART

by Joan Serratelli

A friend of mine
once told me
that WALMART
was like
a computer virus
it spreads
and you can find one
wherever
you live

Be it a big city
or a small rural town
there's always
a WALMART
somewhere around

The parking lot
is always full
no spaces
to be found,
so you sit
in your car
just waiting
for someone
to vacate

Once in the store
you walk
'round and 'round
looking for bargains
yet to be found

Price rollbacks
now that's a joke
if you go
the next day
they're usually
back up!

I don't like going
'cause I usually
get lost
I can't find
my husband
admist all
the merchandise

The checkout people
are friendly enough
but you can tell
by the look on their face
they don't want
to be there
anymore
than I do

I forget
why I went
I forget
what I want
but I spend
all my money
on nothing
at all

I don't know about neccesary, but I'd say you definitely captured the atmosphere here. Nicely done.

I'm not sure why everyone refers to Walmart as evil. They're a successful business, they aren't killing kittens. Even so, you captured the feeling well.
