is full of leavings
crunch of birthday underfoot
written on maple and ginko
the history of leaves
left

where he stepped before
pages sing the lost
and bring back
I begged him again
and again

now nothing to be done
but to live where mostly
all's so subtle except
for storm and what
I remember
