Memory and immersion by Vikki OwensI dont need to remember you,
you are etched into my skin,
you are burned into my mind,
every curve and angle of you
makes up the geometry of my world,
there is no remembering,
only immersion.
I have lived you,
your life has been mine,
my life has been yours.
There was no separation between
my breath and your breath
my thoughts were thoughts of you
my heart beat its rhythm for you
and because of you.
You were the electrical impulses
that fired my synapses
and caused my body to move.
Waking up, I woke up for you.
Sleeping, dreaming, I dreamed of you.
Walking, breathing, laughing, crying,
everything I felt, I felt for you.
Immersion,
the swallowing up of a being.
I am not sure who swallowed who.
