Waves

by Jason Wardell

I wrote about the destructive power of water
civilizations carved and collapsed under its
weight breaking rocks and men into component
parts into an undifferentiated drowning mass

I wrote about the entropic property of water
the dynamics of inevitable decay of a fading
warmth over millennia a primal earthly force

I wrote about the restorative power of water
as I stood under a torrent and shaped myself

And I wrote about water because I was unable

I wrote about water because I couldn't write

Wrote about water because I didn't know what

About water because I am not liquid but I am

Water because water is constant and complete

Because water is always crashing not ceasing

Water is always crashing not ceasing

Is always crashing not ceasing

Always crashing not ceasing

Crashing not ceasing

Never ceasing.

Author's Note: I was writing a lot about water and I decided to get it out of my system.

I'll second Bass on that one. Stunning, beautiful imagery and a real good bit of work.
