redefine: hell

by Aaron Michael

i never saw it coming.

this jagged feeling
all points and nothing
soft enough to dry
tears and bloody shards
of bone so i can start
to stitch them back.
i hope this is as far
as i fall. i want to
climb again.
someday.

the bright side of not knowing
is the worst i can imagine.
but all that i am showing
is what mattered to me then.
i am alone in thought and hell
and sobered by that very fact.
i no longer hear the tolling bell
that once showed me the way back.

i will follow the trail of impacts
that i left on the way
into this madness.
i will temper myself through
this pain.
i will collect my broken pieces
in all their
glorious sadness
and pray i will be
me. again.

from all sides
shot.
and dumped into
what i pray is
rock bottom.

I've been told that life is a cirle- sometimes, you're at the top of it; other timmes you're at the bottom. It will get better, because from what I've just read, it can't get any worse!Don't give up! Good, honest write. Good luck!

Being on this human path sure lands us in some hells worse than the particular hell we're taught to fear.

Soft words enclosed...I hope they find their way to you.
