My Mother's Time by Joan SerratelliI saw her last night
I looked into her eyes
and saw nothing
the shell of a woman
I used to call "the rock"
She looked tired and weak
and spoke softly
and told me that she loved me
but her time was growing near
I had to leave
to run away and scream
I'm not ready to lose her
but I think she's ready to go
Her legacy will be her strength
her unwillingness to give up
The children she raised
are now both grown
They will say she lived
a full life; 83 years
is quite a run
But her life was filled
with hardship and grief
something she rose above
I'll miss her; I love her
but if her time is near
I just want G-d to have mercy
and let her go in peace

Great write. Lovely tribute about your Mom. Yet, it's sad too. So sorry for your loss. I feel your pain and hurt, for I too, no longer have my Mom either. It's very hard losing a parent. Many blessings your may. May the Lord, touch you and your family. Lots of Hugs. |
