Falling Asleep by Joan SerratelliI went to sleep early
last night
after getting up
very early
While laying there,
I pondered
this thought:
how do you know
when you're sleeping?
I yawned a little,
pulled the blanket
over my head
and the next thing
I knew
I was sleeping
A few hours later,
I got up
took a pill
and pondered
this thought:
how do you know
when you're sleeping
I yawned a little,
pulled the blanket back
over my head
and the next thing
I knew
I was sleeping
A few hours later,
I woke up again
and figured that
maybe
I should just stay awake
but it was too early
so I repeated the process
and sleep once again
came over me
I still want to know
when it is
that you know
that you are sleeping

| Posted by Charlie Morgan on 03/05/09 at 04:47 PM ...you know i'm pretty smart. you're sleeping when you don't know it; you're awake when you know it. that's the difference. small i know. such is life's many secrets...joan, durned if i know but i love the waltzing back n' forth with that thought...you did. |
