the massacre beyond appeal

by Frank Lee

i played drums
in a band
for the country
for the sand
no one loved us
they just liked
the covers
and that s like
enjoying the pizza
without the crust
so i must....

dance in asia
dreamin about crime..

there was a muslim
(in his prime)
he was the essence
he was the light
he was the massacre
he was the fight

but, there was jesus
and there was you

there was a portrait
a haiku
there was a demonstration
a sacrifice
there was an evening
there was a device
and we all stood together
hand in hand

hand in hand

maybe you didn't
understand
the complicated
but it was me
it was you
it was clever
it was
cool
it was convenient
it was the rule

so lets forget
not try to fool
lets be honest
lets be true

there was majestic
and there was blue
there was the evening
and once again
in the distance
it carried off it carried soft and then it died
it was too poignant
to supply it was too real to deny but, it was clever
it was real
it was the massacre
beyond appeal

"The massacre beyond appeal."--I really like that, and I almost wish it was the title of thing. Heh. Brilliant write, sir.
