World Beach by Johnny CrimsonSlept through a pummeling
tide that ripped through the Earth
and set the world ablaze.
Blood muted our mouths and the pins
that protruded from our eyes caused some
to bang their faces against the sand
hoping to end the pain.
We felt around with our hands for something
"real" to hold on to but all I could make due
with were shark teeth and hypodermic needles
that washed up on the shore.
Much in need of a change I grabbed the shattered
Coke bottle glass and began erasing the tattos
on my body.
I started with the Buddha and the Krishna god Sheeva
You always hated those anyway.
It grew quiet and as the sun began to rise I saw the
bodies on the beach start to shiver as if alive.
My hope was renewed as I went to shake the one I had
brought there just days before the apocalypse.
Shaking her and brushing my hands through her hair
she took her last
gasp for air and carried away my speech with her into eternity.
I heard laughter coming from the sky as I cried in my
blood pool raining over her sacred body, shielding
her from absolution and the concrete definitive evidence
that something corporate exists in the sky.
