when choices lead you in-between by Ava Bluit’s going to be a while
before I can see the open window clearly
I always say lead with your heart and not your head
because in-between is Purgatory
and none of us are willing to believe
that one will end up in Hell
the two disagree often,
like roommates fighting over the same partner
when neither are really all that interested
you think one will become the winner,
one the loser,
but both end up
alone
crying in some crowded restaurant
wondering when nights became so long
and they still won’t blame it on
the arguments between head and heart
they won’t piece these items together
because it’s too difficult to admit
you ended up alone by choice
they’ll end up sitting in front of a bolted door
with no hope of turning around
and somehow,
some of them,
will accept this fate
and never blame
the other half.

The imagery and tone are perfect, but it's the fact that I really didn't know where this was going that really kept my attention. It all comes together at the end, and it's pretty staggering at that, the revelations you go after here. Brilliant, brilliant stuff. |
