The table set for eternity
We were to do this forever
This shot a joy that was to last alone
Through the depths of my being

The stars above twinkled
Projectiles of the light in her eyes
But the diamonds were to stay
In me
Forever
On a ring
Preserved upon her immortal finger

And as my self-talking
Evolved to worry
I became infatuated
With the moment
Long enough to nearly miss her truthful words
“I love you, too”
“and I’m so excited”
I overflowed with agreement
