I Just Don't Know

what holds us together
the glue is wearing thin
I tried to leave
you pulled me back
"Let's compromise"
you said
But compromise is hard
harder than you think
I am who I am
and
you are who you are
and never the twain
shall meet
We shouldn't be together
we both know
that is the truth
but we'll go on
until death
does us part
which might be sooner
