the world revolves around me

by Vere Mantratriad

you should all feel so important
as the air feels heavier now
and you can look the other way
but there’s nothing you can do
unless you can find another side
to this everlasting sinking ship
keep on playing
you’re catering to my fingertips
and I’m paying
because you’ve always known
that you’re the moon and
I’m the sun
never in the same sky
opposite and underfed
I’ll chalk it up to your
experience with running away
and we can all pretend
not to listen to the stars
no matter how bright they are
but I should hear them
when they tell me
I should find a different sky
because when the world
revolves around you
everyone knows
it just means you’re standing still

"because you’ve always known that you’re the moon and I’m the sun never in the same sky"--I sure like that. Great work all the way though.

Ah yes, and it is only your light that the moon uses to shine. Without you the moon is in darkness. Nicely done Vere!

there's a sort of logic here that makes perfect sense for a minute, then i sort of can't grasp it, then i get it again. i like that.
